AgriTech Innovation Hub

Smart Village role is to bring modern digital technologies closer to rural communities and enable them to develop 21 century skills and competences.

In December 2020, AgriTech won first place in the “mtel IoT innovation change” competition with the prototype “sensor sprayer controller”.

With the formation of the Smart Village settlement in Knežica, the work of the team gained its fuller expression. Our intention is for Smart Village to provide conditions for a pleasant stay, learning and work of young people, who would have direct contact with nature, tradition and the village through their stay in the settlement.

In 2021, the plans of the AgriTech team are directed forward through the expansion of the team through the organization of new courses within Smart Village, which, in addition to experts in certain areas of IoT, will be led by last year’s participants.

Inclusion of young people into innovative process The goal is to include young people living in the rural area of Knezica and its surroundings in the training process, in order to offer them quality educational content that has a clearer economic perspective. We see these young people as key bearers of the innovative transformation of their environment.

Many jobs require computer skills instead of degrees. Smart Village will provide training of youths in various ICT skills such are web design, graphical design, 3D modeling and robotics. We want to create an eco-system that makes youth interested in working from their villages. BPOs/KPOs can operate from villages and young people can be encouraged to take up IT jobs there.

Part of the training will be related to the introduction of advanced software tools in agricultural business. It is expected that the use of some modern tools such as Decision Aid systems in protection against weather, diseases and pests and the application of fertilizers significantly contribute to a more rational use of resources and reduce production costs.

Farmers education. Smart Village will serve as a training space for farmers as well as for the local population. The trainings will be held in cooperation with professional organizations (Agricultural Advisory Service), scientific research organizations (faculties, institutes) and related innovation hubs and smart villages. Special attention will be paid to activities aimed at more active engagement of young people and women in the economy.
